R.J. Vonk

Roel VonkProf. Dr. R.J. Vonk is founder and CEO of Hanze Nutrition.

Roel Vonk studied chemistry at the University of Groningen (RUG) (Technical chemistry, Biochemistry), and obtained his PhD degree in Pharmacology at the same university.

After a training in Montreal in paediatric gastroenterology (Hopital St. Justine, Montreal) he started the lab Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Dept. of Paediatrics of the University Hospital in Groningen (UMCG)

At the moment he is full Professor of Nutrition at the UMCG. Until 2011 he was also head of the department of Medical Biomics (www.biomics.eu) and was involved in the development of genomics technology with focus on proteomics and metabolomics for application in the field of metabolism and nutrition.

His research concerns digestion and fermentation of carbohydrates in relation to diabetes type 2 , babyfood and healthy aging.

He published about 200 peer reviewed papers
